We’ve teamed up with Streetwise New York Tours to offer FREE NYC tours for guests of Pod Hotels, every weekday!
Streetwise guides are some of the best in the business, so we know our guests are in good hands. From subway tips, to in-depth knowledge of NYC history (with a side of comedy) — Pod Walks are free NYC tours covering the best of each neighborhood, with an insider’s perspective. Our walking tours operate rain, shine, and even in the snow — so pack a sturdy pair of shoes, a smile, and grab your MetroCard (or ask your guide for assistance in getting one) — that’s all you need to participate!
Once you’ve booked your Pod, feel free to send us an email at email@example.com to register for as many walks as you would like! You can also sign up when you arrive, just chat with the concierge. Pod Walks leave from the lobby of Pod 51 at 9:30am, every week day except Wednesday. On Wednesday, we depart from Pod 39 at 9:30am.
Monday – City Hall, Little Italy, and SoHo
Learn the secrets of the City Hall area and explore Little Italy and Soho. See some of the best examples of New York Beaux Arts and cast iron architecture from a century ago. See what remains of Manhattan’s still vibrant, though shrinking, Italian enclave. Walk along the cobblestone streets of SoHo, and hear about the neighborhood’s transformation from industrial, to artsy, to one of the world’s most fashionable shopping districts.
Tuesday – Street Art & Immigration
Start your morning at one of NYC’s most authentic food halls — Essex Market! This tour explores the history of the Lower East Side as a neighborhood of immigrants, as well as its contemporary status as one of the trendiest neighborhoods in Manhattan. Your guide knows all the latest and greatest street art installations. You’ll also have a chance to stop at Economy Candy, one of the best (and most affordable!) candy stores in the city. From the LES, you’ll venture into Chinatown, and hear about the rich history of this area. We suggest staying in the neighborhood for lunch after the tour — your guide can point you in the direction for the best dim sum!
Wednesday – The Upper West Side & Central Park
Even New Yorkers have been known to get lost in the massive 843 acres of Central Park. In a couple hours, you’ll visit the must-see sites of the park. Learn the secrets and backstories of Strawberry Fields, Bethesda Terrace and the Dakota apartment building. You’ll also get a feel for city life in the Upper West Side, a classic New York neighborhood.
Thursday – Greenwich Village & the Meatpacking
Start the day at Chelsea Market, one of the trendiest spots in one of the most glamorous neighborhoods in NYC! Chelsea Market is just one of many remnants of the West Side’s fascinating industrial past. Weather permitting, stroll the High Line, which has quickly become one of the city’s must see attractions. Venture into Greenwich Village, and learn about the area’s bohemian history.
Friday – Brooklyn
On this tour you’ll pass beautiful brownstones on picturesque tree lined streets and make your way through one of New York’s nicest new waterfront parks. See innovations in urban planning side by side with some of the classiest homes NYC has to offer. You’ll also venture into DUMBO — once a desolate industrial wasteland — now home to unique shops and street art. Stop for a selfie at the incredible view of the Brooklyn Bridge and NYC skyline!
