Our Winter #PodPicks
The official first day of winter is December 21, but we get the season started early in New York City! Here are some of our favorite winter activities:
We’re serious about our Pod Walks, and yes, we Pod Walk in the snow! We offer FREE walking tours Monday – Friday (with more being added soon with the opening of our new locations, Pod Times Square and Pod Brooklyn.) It takes a (very rare) blizzard or a major holiday (think Thanksgiving and Christmas day) to postpone a Pod Walk.
These FREE walking tours, along with our super convenient locations, really make us the ideal hotels for a winter stay in NYC! Each Pod is just steps from the nearest subway station, or a quick walk to the best attractions in the city. Our stellar concierge team and our expert Pod Walk guides are going to help you plan the best winter day ever.
New York City Ice Skating Rinks open in late October!
Our #PodPick is the Rink at the Bryant Park Winter Village. Located at 42nd Street & 6th Avenue, it’s within walking distance from all our Manhattan locations. Staying in Brooklyn? Though there are options nearby, we recommend adding this to your list on the same day as a few major NYC attractions. The Empire State Building, Top of the Rock, and Times Square are all close by. It’s also the only FREE rink in NYC.
Eats + Deals
Though the dates for NYC Restaurant Week haven’t been announced yet, it’s safe to say it will fall in late January through early February.
January and February are two of the best months to visit NYC. Broadway Week features 2-for-1 tickets and runs from January 16-February 4, 2018. NYC Attraction week, also offering 2-for-1 tickets, generally overlaps these dates.
🎄 Holidays 🎉
It’s a fact: Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and Valentines Day are more exciting in NYC. We’ll be posting some specific holiday guides soon, so make sure you keep reading the #PodLife blog!
A long weekend, like Presidents’ Day weekend (February 17-19, 2018) is a great time to explore the city. Our rates are great, and we #PodWalk on Presidents’ Day! You’ll be close enough to Trump Tower to stop by, but not so close that you’ll get frisked by the Secret Service.
Don’t be afraid of snow!
The truth is, it doesn’t snow very frequently in NYC, but when it does, even the most jaded New Yorker gets a little excited. The city covered in snow is magical. Build a snowman in Central Park – and Instagram it, your friends will be soooooooo jealous. Yes, NYC gets cold, but it’s not Canada – you don’t need a coat made out of geese. Layer up, buy some cheap gloves and a hat from a street vendor, and explore. Drink some hot cocoa, or a toddy. Pat yourself on the back with all the $$$ you saved.
